Go Ask Alice is an outstanding book written in diary form that captures the descent of a teenager caught up in a world of drugs. Alice didnt exactly fit in in her new school, so when she was offered an invite to a friends house, she eagerly went. It was then when she was introduced to a completely new world of drugs, which started innocently with LSD and progressively worsened until she realized that she was hurting herself and others. Go Ask Alice is a touching and moving story that all teenagers and their parents should read.
This book proves that if someone truly has the will to do something, they can do it. Alices diary is filled with honest and true feelings that any teenager can relate to. Through her experiences, Alice proves that adolescents have a very rocky and insecure time. Alice is your typical 15-year old who faces everyday peer pressure but does not resist the temptation. She starts out innocently until it becomes an addiction, where After youve had it, there isnt even life without drugs& Her diary is a harsh awakening into reality, and by reading it, you can learn through her mistakes not to follow the same path to self-destruction.
I would highly recommend this book to all teenagers and even their parents, and to anyone else that would enjoy and benefit from this horrific story of a teenager trapped in a world of drugs. Her powerful diary is a sad but real one, and its story of betrayal, loneliness, and addiction leaves her to confide all of her thoughts in her diary. This book accurately portrays reality and the challenges that many face daily. Its story will touch you, scare you, and teach you about the dangers of adolescence and the problems that an adolescent faces with drugs, friends, sex, and addiction.
