Are you a Rock 'n Roll wannabe? How far would you go to fulfil that dream?
Read on and find out what it could REALLY be like!
'Holywood Star' will take you on one of the funniest rock and roll tours ever encountered in which you'll meet most of the people fame rejected. And although you haven't heard about any of Eamon's bands, by the end of his book you'll feel like a life long fan.
We've all hear of Olly Murs and McFly but do the names Guilt Edge, No Hot Ashes and Nellie Dean ring any bells? Why not? Was it that the band members hated each other; the seedy manager let them down; catty girlfriends tried to kill each other or finally, the realisation that children have to be fed through a regular job. Eamon Nancarrow experienced all of the above and much more. In his memoires `Holywood Star' you'll find yourself bursting out with laughter at events that would stop sane people performing forever; yet these calamities somehow propelled him towards more moments of madness.
Born in 1965, Eamon grew up on a council estate in Holywood, County Down and fell in love with 70's and then 80's rock music. As a Catholic lad raised on a Protestant estate near Belfast in the thick of The Troubles, Eamon began life as one of the disadvantaged. However he became a survivor. He can tell a yarn with charm and a chuckle amid a life of raw existence.
His first goal was to form a band and then conquer the nearby Belfast; following that London and soon after the rest of the world. But to succeed you do have to get the bookings right... If only Lady Luck, the patron saint of pop stars, could have rubbed shoulders with him and one of his bands.
If you are into music; are looking to fins out more about your folk's dodgy hairstyles, double-cringe fashion and gig going in the 80's and 90's;or just in need of a good laugh, you are likely to find yourself carried along by the many hilarious tales of misadventure encountered while on the quest for super stardom.
For anyone out there who enjoys to read about life, love and happiness; not to mention good ol' rock and roll or if you evolve from Northern Ireland and have that 'wee place' in your soul.... be prepared to ache for 'home' and to be proud to know that despite all its 'troubles' it has produced the likes of Eamon Nancarrow; who has listened wisely to his inner voice and provided us with this 'wee gem'.
