House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland is a dark YA fantasy-horror book that is strangely enthralling and unsettling all at once.

The story centers around the Hollow sisters: Grey, Vivi, and Iris. Ten years ago, they went missing for a month, only to return to the place they disappeared from with no memory of what happened. The girls were slightly changed, not only in physical appearance but also in their ability to use mind control to get others to do what they want.

When the oldest sister, Grey (who became a supermodel and a fashion designer), vanishes again, Iris and Vivi have to follow her mysterious trail. This forces them to confront the terrifying truth of that lost month.

What I liked: he mystery of what happened to the Hollow Sisters during their month-long disappearance is the most compelling part of this book. As that mystery unfolds, readers are brought on an adventure into a halfway dimension that is eerie, creepy, and the stuff of nightmares. The book is fast-paced with lots of twists and turns. The conclusion of the mystery isn’t something I saw coming, and I love a book that keeps me on my toes.

House of Hollow delivers a suspenseful, nightmare-fueled journey that will satisfy any mystery and horror fan.
