Tasi, an eighteen-year-old, headstrong, blood-drinking, dhampyr, has been hidden away in a small town in Maine since the death of her parents. Though she had trained to fight and kill vampires, she never believed those skills would be useful in her mundane life. That’s where she’s wrong.

In one moment, her life changes forever, and her aunt’s final words ring in her head.

They want your blood.

Now orphaned and charged with protecting her sister, Emily—a sister who doesn’t know what they are or that she’s about to endure a life-threatening change—Tasi has no other choice but to follow directions left for her. She is to find an ally who lives in New York City. This is the only way Tasi will figure out why she and Emily are being hunted before they end up drained of their blood.

I found this book to be a really quick and engaging read, especially if you like paranormal stories with action and tension right from the start. Hunted follows Tasi, an eighteen-year-old dhampyr who has spent most of her life hidden away, training for a world she never thought she would actually have to face. That changes fast when everything in her life falls apart and she suddenly has to protect her younger sister while being hunted.

Tasi is a strong main character. She is stubborn, protective, and clearly shaped by her past, which makes her reactions feel believable. What I liked most about her is that she is not just focused on survival, but also on keeping her sister safe, especially since Emily has no idea what is really going on. That adds emotional weight to the story because Tasi is carrying a lot on her own.

The plot moves quickly, which makes it easy to stay interested. Once the danger starts, it does not really slow down. The mystery of why they are being hunted keeps things tense, and the journey to find the ally in New York gives the story direction. It feels like there is always something at stake, which helps keep the momentum going.

The dynamic between Tasi and Emily is also important. Since Emily is unaware of their true nature, there is this constant pressure building around what will happen when the truth comes out. That tension adds another layer to the story beyond just the action and danger.

Overall, I found Hunted to be a solid start to a series. It mixes action, mystery, and family responsibility in a way that keeps you reading, and it sets up a larger story that could get even more intense in future books.
