Do you do spooky? Well, Sherry Holmes Baldwin certainly does. She's a detective who can actually smell ghosts--Ack, eek, ike!-- and talk to them, too. I So Don't Do Spooky, by Barrie Summy, is a delightful book. It is filled with fun, adventure, laugh-out-loud humor, and enough "spooky" to keep you biting your nails for a long time.

The book opens with Sherry basking over her relationship with delicious new boyfriend, Josh Morton (swoon, swoon, swoon), who smells like laundry soap plus chlorine. Sherry is also marveling over her bff, Junie, who is finally interested in clothes and make-up (yah!), and a nerdy boy named Nick (not-so-yah).

Sherry's life is pretty typical until strange things begin to happen to her step-mother and Sherry and her ghost-mom are assigned to the case. Since Sherry previously helped her mother solve a case (I So Don't Do Mysteries), she's not too worried about this one...until she discovers there's a whole lot more at stake. Her mom is competing in the Ghostlympics--an event so important that solving this case and winning the Ghostlympics means she gets five minutes of "real time" with Sherry. And oh, what Sherry would give, just to be able to hug her mom again...

If you like your middle school adventures dipped in "funny" and topped with just a hint of ghostly mystery, you simply must pick up a copy of I So Don't Do Spooky.

Yada, yada, yada.

Well...you know what I mean.
