Fifteen year old Judith Sparrow comes from an orphanage to live with kind people who live in comfortable quarters.
They have but one rule: nothing green is permitted in the house.
But this one rule, she has broken. The only remembrance of her mother, who died in an insane asylum, is a picture in a green silk frame. She feels this one object will not do anyone harm.
But this small piece of green awakens the spirit of Jade Green, the girl who used to live in the house, until she was murdered.
It is not an overtly obvious who-dun-it, yet I'm sure that if you paid careful attention, it's not hard to figure out. But the story if beautifully enhanced with love, and the acceptance of her new family.
