Button, Dot and Dollop love exploring the magical forest they live in. They love vine swinging. They love guppie bumping. They love making nature art. But what they love most is returning home after an exciting day of adventuring.
The Funjeepups want to make a wish on a star, so they decide to go on an overnight camping trip. But with clouds in the sky, there are no stars . . . and no wishes! Button, Dot and Dollop make the most of the night, though — with treats, games and a brand-new friend who happens to glow. Maybe their wish can come true after all?

great pick for young independent readers!
FUNJEEPUPS: A STAR WISH is a cute early reader graphic novel about friendship and making wishes. The three Funjeepups, Dot, Button, and Dollop, are heading into the woods to camp under the stars and make some wishes. However, when the sky is cloudy, they are unable to see the stars. Instead, they find some fireflies and make a wish upon them. When the clouds clear, Dot is able to make her wish upon a star – which comes true when the firefly finds her again.
What I loved: This is a fun early reader graphic novel that uses a panel or two on each page to smoothly tell the story and introduce young readers to the format. Text is sparse, with repeating words and sight words that help with very early independent reading. The speech is easy to follow with only a few words at most in each speech bubble. This really helps little ones gain confidence and enjoy the story while they digest the words.
The illustrations are fun with adorable and expressive characters as well as lots of colors. The story is told primarily through the images with text complimenting the illustrations/panels. The font is large, clear, and easy to read, helping young readers. The simple plot and fun images are perfect for young elementary school readers.
Final verdict: With a cute, simple story and colorful characters, FUNJEEPUPS: A STAR WISH is a delightful early reader graphic novel that helps young independent readers to easily follow along and gain confidence.
