What I Liked: This story begins by Eldar and Elnur introducing themselves and sharing about the trip that they are about to embark on. It’s fascinating to see how this exhibit manages to use holographs to tell an important story. This book manages to present heart breaking stories in a manner that young children will be able to follow and that can start discussion about current events.
The illustrations throughout this book are elaborate and contain many details that help set you in the various settings that this book goes through. The illustrator does a great job of ensuring that the colors used in the images match the tone of the story. As the child tells her story of each of her homes being taken, the mood along with the colors shift and turns sadder especially when the story explains that her last home was taken along with her life.
Final Verdict: Story of the Stolen Homes: An Unforgettable Journey to Palestine is a moving story that provides you with further information of the struggles that Palestinians faced and their resiliency. This book is perfect for children ages 3 and up, and great for teaching children about history through the lens of another child.
