I have worked in a middle school library for 19 years and I think this book has been one of the most interesting and grabbing books this year. For starters, there is a lot of action for the young reader as well as an underlaying message that is not lost in the story nor feels like a lecture to the kids. Marmolejos clearly knows well the competition in this age group and delivered a product that is both entertaining as well as educational.

While the pace of the book and the story are clearly impressive. I was not that impressed with the editing of the book. The novel contains several easily fixable grammatical errors that in a sense really stand out. However, it does provides with enough excitement and drama to keep the reader glued and oblivious to the errors.

I believe children and specially Young Adults deserve great storytelling, otherwise how else are we going to develop a reading culture in this nation. And this book is an example of what works.
