Edie is back at Knight's Haddon for another term. She was separated from Anastasia during the summer and can't wait to see her friend again. She quickly learns that she and Anastasia are not going to room together. Instead Edie is to room with the new girl Janet. That's when the trouble starts. Anastasia is quick to blame Edie when things go wrong. From her birthday excursion to the ferrets everything is Edie's fault in Anastasia's eyes. After one incident gets Edie's entire grade to turn against her she decides to figure out who really is behind everything.

I absolutely love the mystery of these books. The whodunnit that runs throughout this book with the boarding school setting, makes this one I couldn't put down. Edie is a great main character who I have enjoyed getting to know these past two books. She's extremely loyal to Anastasia and doesn't ever want her to get in trouble. She's always willing to take the blame. Her close relationship to the headmistress Miss Fotheringay makes her an easy target for the other kids. I loved that Esme really shows girl relationships at such a young age. It's easy to forget how much we want to handle everything by ourselves. Which you see a lot with Edie. She has come from a hard background and you can see that she doesn't trust adults. Many times throughout this book she doesn't tell a teacher or Miss Fotheringay what's really going on. She believes she can handle it herself. Which most of the time she does. But I loved her relationship with Miss Fotheringay. She really wants to take care of Edie and protect her.

This book is fun and exciting to read. Especially if you like boarding schools and mysteries. It's got a great thrill factor and you never know who to trust. This is a great book for those kids that love mysteries and trying to figure out themselves who the suspect is. A great and exciting read for many young kids, boys or girls.
