The author based her story on the TV series Newly Weds, but it falls flat. The whole idea is ridiculous and there's too much content that would make it unsuitable for anyone under fifteen. The story is pretty long and it's very predictable. Check it out of the library, because it's not worth the buy.

Newly Wed is an absolutely amazing novel. When I first started reading it, I couldn't put it down. The way Nancy Krulik writes makes the reader not want to put the novel down. She truly knows what it's like to be in love... not just 'loving' something. True love only happens once in a persons life, and Jesse and Jen were just that... Truly a worthy novel! I loved it!!!!!! =P

Jen and Jesse meet and fall in love through an online dating service called Duets. If that isn't great enough, Duets chooses them as their Couple of the Year, and pays for their wedding in its entirety.

There's just one catch. They have to maintain an online blog so that followers of the Duets success story can keep track of Jen and Jesse even after they marry.

The problem is, Jen and Jesse are very different people. And all sorts of problems, big and little, begin cropping up. Soon, the online blog that was supposed to be devoted to Jen and Jesse's newly wed life together turns from sugary sweet to bitter. It becomes evident that if this marriage is going to survive past the first year, both Jen and Jesse need to sort out their problems... but will they?

This novel didn't really do it for me. I thought Jen and Jesse were both very self-absorbed and did not come across as entirely likeable characters. Certainly some situations they were endearing or sympathetic, but overall, I did not like these people.

The book overall, I think, has good intentions to show what marriage is really about and what it takes to survive the bad times. I just don't think Nancy Krulik chose the right characters to tell that story.

I would recommend this one for ages at least 14 and up, due to some sexual comments in the novel.
