This book is the author's telling of his experience of the holocaust. Ellie was taken as a young boy, and put into a concentration camp, along with his family. He tells of the last time he ever saw his sister and mother again. He tells of how they were treated and what they were forced to do, along with what they were forced to watch. He saw hundreds of people dying, including his own father.

I thought that this book was really good. I think that everyone should read it, because it actually happened. The author did an excellent job of recalling events that happened in his life. I read in 10th grade and liked it from the start.

This short yet powerful book left me speechless—how could anyone so young face all of the hardships Elie did during the Holocaust? Elie saw those around him suffering in the camps, even suffering himself. He witnessed death, cruelty, and other horrors no one should ever have to face. He was exhausted by the end of every day, wondering if he’d be alive the next morning. His father was in his camp as well, but when he is finally worn down, Elie’s father falls ill. There is no place for the sick and dying in these cruel camps and Elie knows that it won’t be long until someone notices his father’s illness. But how can he save his father? The food is meager for everyone and no one has enough of anything—will his father live?

Night was a touching (and depressing at points) story filled with grief, cruelty, suffering, death, and regret—things that one so young should not feel and witness every day.

I read Night recently. It is a thin book about 106 pages. I never expected such a short easy read to have such an impact on myself. At times you forget what this man was going through is real. It's all to scarey. I really learned alot about the concentration camps because of this book. I previously had read Anne Frank and Night surely, in my opinion, topped it. I recommend Night to any one wanting to know more about the concentration camps and what went on in World War II. Or to who anyone that wants a quick, powerful read.
