What I liked:
The Wingfeather Saga is an adventure fantasy about three siblings, Janner, Tink, Leeli, and their adorable dog Nugget. There is nothing too special about the siblings; they don't have magic, live in a town terrorized by evil creatures called fangs, and all they have is their bravery and love for each other. The book reminds me of classics from my childhood, like Narnia, Phantom Toll Booth, and the hobbit. The siblings do everything to keep each other safe from the fangs as they live in the world, but circumstances go sideways, and secrets begin to unravel.
Final Verdict:
Some quirky footnotes add to the story as you read along and learn more about this town that is ruled by evil fangs. The book is appropriate for the age group it was written for, no romance, the battles have blood but not gore, the children act like real-life kids, and Janner is determined to be grown up as most 12 years are watching over his siblings at the festival and around town. The book has many quirky places to visit, and the illustrations lend a hand to helping you imagine the world we are reading about. There are four books for this series and a tv show, so there are lots to explore and enjoy.
