Pretty Pretty

Quinn has just landed the perfect summer dream job. Shes going to be spending the summer working in a hotel& in Hawaii. Sun, beaches, sand, and, of course, cute boys. What more could a girl ask for? How about working with your best friend? Quinns scored this point too, as her best friend Holly also lands a job in the same hotel.

It doesnt take long to realize that Barrington House isnt what the girls expected. Between customer complaints of missing items, strange moving portraits, and tales of haunted houses, Quinn is starting to get creeped out.

Then one day she wakes up to find the words Pretty, so pretty written on her mirror in pink lipstick. Are the mysterious occurrences at Barrington House caused by some sort of sick stalker? Or is the hotel really haunted? Quinn isnt sure which, but you can bet shes going to find out!

Let me start off by saying that the whole horror genre has never done it for me. I dont particularly like being scared, and I try to avoid anything that might get me wound up. Scary movies, books, roller coasters, you name it. That being said, Pretty Pretty totally took me by surprise.

The suspense hits you like a ton of bricks from the first page, and is built slowly and expertly along to a thrilling climax. Each successive cliffhanger built on my curiosity until I could hardly stand to stop reading. Quinn was a character I could really relate to, making her experiences all that more real. Oliver has crafted a mysterious masterpiece that scared me out of my wits&but in a good way.

Recommend for readers 12 and up, especially if youre looking for a great summer mystery. But be warned, this one will keep you reading all night.
