(Cap)ricorn Anderson just doesn't fit in. Not that he is trying to. He lived in a hippie communtiy with his grandma Rain. When Rain hurts her hip, Cap is sent off to foster care until his grandma gets better.
But living in a sheltered hippie communtiy is not an advantage for Cap. He has never tasted pizza, or watched television, or even held a dollar bill. School is also ackward, having not been around a lot of kids. Cap's faster family has a 16 year old daughter, Sophie, who hates Cap with his long blonde hair and tie-dye shirts. But, Cap knows that Sophie's anger is taken out on him probably because her dad is here one minute, gone the next. To top this all off, as a class joke Cap has been voted school president. But suddenly things turn in Cap's favor, and he just might be the best president the school has ever had.
I thought this book was a little weird. Maybe it was because Korman made his main character a hippie, who to me, was just a bit odd. But something that kept me going on reading it was that Cap was incessantly sweet. When he got checks for the school dance, he helped charities, and Sophie. He was just the sweetest guy who didn't notice that he was being picked on. Another thing was that the character were so real- Korman didn't tone down Sophie's anger. When she was mad, ever action that she made you could tell that she was definately, without a doubt mad.
So this book was okay, but I have liked some books more than this. The ending though, was kinda everything I hoped for, and I'm glad it turned out the way it did.
