What I liked about this book was the honesty. Ocatavia isn't thrown into a 'problem novel,' but she does have complex issues like having an overbearing star mother who wants to make her over, which gives her issues. Also, there's the fact that while her father is well-known, he is also gay, which causes issues between her and her mother...and her grandfather. The best scene in the book is her mother finally standing up to the grandfather who disapproves of octavia's father's lifestyle.

The only thing that seemed odd to me was Octavia's complete acceptance of her father. It seemed odd because i would think she would feel for her mother who felt she was betrayed. And I also think that any type of marital split would leave octavia feeling a little betrayed herself-especially when her father was keeping such a large secret. For that reason, the book rang a little false. Otherwise I like the character's insecurities and found her very funny.
