Count me with the Sophie fans. This book was my first time reading this comic and I was instantly in love with little pup Sophie, the nefarious cats, and the rest of their colorful household.
Although this is the second book, it can be read entirely standalone. The first chapter recaps the main events from before, and each one after is an independent, loosely connected story. References and inspirations include Batman, Alice in Wonderland, Monte Python, and more. Alongside Sophie's more imaginative make-pretend adventures, the comic also deals with the very real everyday topics such as pet fostering, adapting to new pets in the home, and what it means to build a family. (The cats are maybe trying to take over the world, but they like having a family too!)
Intelligent, charming, and heartwarming. I loved every panel.
