The Book: Sweep Book of Shadows by Cate Tiernan

The Publisher: Speak 2001

The Plot: When Cal walks into Widow's Vale High, lives change in an instant. Especially Morgan Rowland's life. Cal, the new boy in town, is a witch and Morgan-and her best friend, Bree-quickly fall under his spell. Will Cal-and witchcraft-drive a wedge between lifelong friends Morgan and Bree?

The Good Stuff: Sweep is a good introductory to Wicca and dispels some myths about practicing Wiccans. The book is a real page turner. I can't imagine anyone finishing this book and not wanting to jump into Book Two (The Coven).

The Bad Stuff: The girl's car names got on my nerves, but a minor complaint for an otherwise excellent book.

The Moral: Learn all the facts about a religion before you condemn it.

The Thing I'll Remember Most About This Book in Ten Years: Sweep introduced me to Wicca, a religion I knew little about.
