A modern-day classic underdog story to share with middle graders alongside such favorites as Wonder, Holes, and Bridge to Terabithia.
Paul Fisher sees the world from behind glasses so thick he looks like a bug-eyed alien. But he’s not so blind that he can’t see there are some very unusual things about his family’s new home in Tangerine County, Florida.

Where else does a sinkhole swallow the local school, fire burn underground for years, and lightning strike at the same time every day? The chaos is compounded by constant harassment from his football-star brother.

Adjusting to life in Tangerine isn’t easy for Paul—until he joins the soccer team at his middle school. With the help of his new teammates, Paul begins to discover what lies beneath the surface of his strange new hometown. And he also gains the courage to face up to some secrets his family has been keeping from him for far too long.

In Tangerine, it seems, anything is possible.

tangerine was a boring book to me. it never fully caught my attention while reading. when i would read to got tired of it and stopped after like one page. its a slow process and doesnt fully make sense. also the results of a problem didnt go anything like they would in real life. if you want a book that has toons of action and it keeps you on the side of your chair go read a different book.

I would say this book was interesting in some points. A lot of the parts were very boring, such as meetings and whatnot for Erik's football team. The exciting part about those were Erik's reactions. It was somewhat violent, so I wouldn't reccommend making this a book to read for school projects, or give it to someone 12 years or younger. A 3 because it was exciting and kept you on your toes whenever Erik's trouble was around.

Tangerine by: Edward Bloor is the best book that I have read ALL YEAR. It has action moments, love moments, and moments of sadness. Well Paul is that main character and he has one problem... but also he doesnt know how this problem occurred. So he tries to figure it out!! Let me give you a hint... has to do with his eye sight. It also has a lot of suspense in it haha& so I would recommend you read it!!

This book surprised me, I thought it was pretty good but too many people died. I don't like dealing with death and it makes me want to disappear and hide from sorrow. Anyways take out the death of Luis and I would have liked it more but if he hadnt died it wouldnt have lead to the end of the book. So overall its a descent book. (=

This book was okay!!
I didnt finish it but what I heard it was good except the fact that allot of people die! Its just weird but overall it was a good book.My favorite part is that sinkhole part it was exciting because you would never thing that would ever happen to anyone but it does every day. But I was a sort of kind of good book!!

Tangerine was a book that told a story well, relating to kids in my class age. I could relate to it while also not being able to put the book down. I thought it was interesting and at some points very edgy. You didnt know what was going to happen next and I thought it was excellent. I like how when Paul's friends died, it changed the actions of the characters slowly and suddenly. There wasn't anything that I didn't enjoy abou this book! Well told.

Tangerine is a book I would recommend, but there are some parts of it that are BORING!! I think there is too much description when explaining the citrus frost and in explaining Paul's involvement in it. It also took a while to get to the gist of the book, which is how Paul became blind. I don't think there are very many clues leading up to the solution.
