Jenny Greenley is the mayonnaise the girl who keeps everyone together. Teachers and parents see her as the typical good neighbor type of girl who would never get in trouble. This is why when superstar and hottie Luke Striker comes to Clayton High to research the part for his next big hit, Jenny is chosen to guide him around and make sure his identity stays secret. At the same time, she has another big secret: shes the Annie of the Ask Annie column. Shes great at giving advice, but deep down she wishes someone could give her advice at times. As she gets to know Luke, who has been going by the name Lucas Smith, he figures her out a lot more easily than she wouldve thought. Hes got her personality nailed and is the only person who ever thought she really could do more for the school and the people there. Now its up to her to decide whether or not to take the advice, while still dealing with her own problems surrounding her love life.
Ive always liked Meg Cabots books and really liked the Princess Diaries. When I read the Mediator series, I liked them more than the Princess Diaries and didnt think her writing could get much better. I was wrong. Teen Idol was by far better than the Princess Diaries and is even a little better than the Mediator books. It has got to be Meg Cabots best book yet. This story was very well written and I really enjoyed the Ask Annie advice columns in between each chapter. Annie/Jens responses were blunt and unique, yet so true and such good advice. Lukes character was well planned out and will be found to be a very interesting character since hes far from the expected egotistical movie star. My favorite character, though, has got to be Scott. He interested me from the first we learned about him: his witty responses, genuine care for others, interest in Sci-Fi and more. Between Luke and Scott, almost every female who reads this book will fall in love with one of the characters. Teen Idol by Meg Cabot is a must read for all!
