The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

It's hard to be a reader and not have read this book! It's an obvious classic and has one of the greatest lessons embedded deep within. I read this in elementary school and then we saw the play. To have it played out it front of me was extraordinary. Huck Finn is one of my favorite characters of all time, and I will read this to my children one day.

I had to read this book for school, and it was very hard to pick up on the dialect used. At first I really struggled, but once I got further into the book, the reading became easier. All in all, it's not that bad of a book. But it's not something that I'd want to reread.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is about freedom. Huck wants to escape the wrath of his father and has no wish to be civilized. Jim escapes slavery. Together, they have a journey on the Mississippi. On the journey, they meet lots of people of society. The men on the Walter Scott, the Grangerfords, the Duke and the King, Colonel Sherburn, and the Wilkss daughters to name a few.

I did not completely enjoy the book. However, I can at least appreciate it. Twain makes a bold move tackling the issue of slavery and society. Still, it is not a book I will ever read again or one I would recommend.

Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is about a young boy, named Huck finn, who runs away from home--from an abusive father and a society who wants to civilize him. During this time he is away from he meets a slave named Jim and together they travel North-Jim for freedom and Huck because he wants adventure. The experience they encounter during this journey will change their lives forever.
I had to read this book for my English class. I liked it but I also thought that some parts of it was boring.

I'd just like to say right off the base that if anyone is insulted by my review, I don't mean it that way. If I am passionate about a book, that means I fully push myself into it, and so my review might come out as overly emotional and annoying.

I disagree with those two reviews out there saying that Huck Finn was boring. Throughout the entire novel, I don't remember being bored one second: annoyed yes; angry most definitely; smiling near the end; but never bored. I just found this novel to be so enlightening, and true, and pure that it literally blew me away.

Basically the book is of Huckleberry Finn, a boy of 12 who clearly does not have the mental ability of a boy. No, he's not mentally challenged, he just has a hard time relating with boys his age. He's father is an abusive alcoholic, and quite literally you feel complete sympathy for Huck right off the bat. As the title states, it's about Huck's adventures with a black runaway slave an how he comes to find his home.

I would most definitely recommend reading this novel, 1) because the ending will surprise you, leave you disappointed or angry or happy or all three and 2) it gave me a whole new perspective on life, and maybe it'll give you the same. :).

Well, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is apretty interesting story. By that I mean, that I have mixed feelings about it. In some parts it was good and I got excited, but in other parts it was like yawn...I am so bored. I might of liked the book if it wasn't an assigned reading but it was and having to read it every night was not fun. In some ways it is sad that I can't appreciate a classic novel by Mark Twain. In other ways the language and words they use are so different from Modern day that I can understand why it might noot be the best. I think Mark Twain was a good writer but I just didn't love this book. It was an adverage book in my opinion!!

It wasn't as good as I hoped. I got it as a class asssignment. I found it kind of hard to understand some of the speech and I wasn't able to always figure out what was going on. Most of the time s I just tuned out. Not all of it was boring, I actually found some of the slower more detailed parts more enjoyable, but there weren't a lot of them. The other kids in my group felt the same way.
