When I first read the description of this book online, I was thinking that it was a novel version of the movie "13 going on 30" starring Jennifer Garner, well, going backwards, instead of forwards. But it wasn't like that, Flora turns 16 again, and she changes her parents as well but the world around her is still the same, a month ago. The only people who still remember her are her best friend, her boyfriend, and her first love. I loved the book because it was how she managed to make a change for herself and enjoy life more than she did the first time around. The ending was sort of a surprise, but I do have to admit, that I suspected something like that sort was going to happen. I think this is a good book for women of all ages. If you're in your 30's, then this book will let you know that going back to when you were younger is not as great as it sounds-- think about it: the whole acne, raging hormones, cruel schoolmates. And if you're just a teen, well make the best out of your everyday. Sometimes it's okay to take a risk and just open up to people.

At her best friend Tashys wedding, Flora comes face to face with her first love, Clelland, after 16 years and her boyfriend, Olly, proposes to her. Flora might still be in love with Clelland, and just when Tashys about to cut the cake, Flora makes a wish that she was 16 again. When she wakes up, shes back to her 16 year old self, but everything else is the same. Only her parents have changed with her. She finds that she has to deal with high school all over again and sees how its the same. But she also falls for Justin, Clellands younger brother. The second time around, Flora realizes some things about herself and learns to let go of some things. But ultimately its up to her to decide whether to stay 16 and start a new life or to go back to the way things were before.
I thought that this was a very original story for a chick lit book. I was hooked from the moment I first started reading it. The story resembles the movie 13 Going on 30. I loved the characters and everything about this. This is definitely one story to check out if you are a fan of chick lit. Im looking forward to reading more books by Jenny Colgan.
