SUMMARY: Dani has two passions in life---baseball and boys. This summer she plans to combine those two by getting her family to host a player from the Ragland Rattlers Collegiate Baseball team. This would get her an opportunity to meet a lot of cute baseball players and hopefully get a summer boyfriend. What she didnt anticipate was how attracted she is towards Jason Davis, the player of which her family was hosting. He is the only one who gets her heart pounding, but because they were living under the same roof, he is also the only one she cant have!

Rachel Hawthorne is an author I can turn to for fluff. Nothing too serious or lengthy, just light, funny, and romantic---which is never a bad thing. THE BOYFRIEND LEAGUE delivered what I was expecting. I liked Dani and I was able to enjoy the book through her narration. I dont often like books in first-person, because the narrator often grate my nerves, but Ms. Hawthorne found the right balance where Dani is concerned. I absolutely adored Jason. He is mature, gentlemanly, and had a sense of humor (what more can you hope for?). I also liked how he was quiet, a contrast from the other wild baseball players. Quiet guys is definitely underappreciated these days.

The only miff I have with the story comes in the form of Tiffany, Danis sister. From the beginning, Dani has described her as nothing but a beauty queen. However, later on the story hints that she was more than that. Id only wish the Ms. Hawthorne could have fleshed her character out a bit more.

Overall, though, THE BOYFRIEND LEAGUE is an enjoyable YA romantic comedy. Good fluff.
