This book is about Roland, the gunslinger, and his quest to catch the man in black. The man in black starts out as a mystery and stays that way throughout the book. There is a little history given about Roland and his childhood, his friends. The main focus is on his hunt for the man in black and his friendship with a young boy named Jake that he meets on his way. Roland does some things in this book that makes him hard to root for or really like for that matter. However, if you read the series through, you begin to understand him more and truly feel more connections going on. Really good beginning in a series of great books.

I think this book is another of Stephen Kings masterpieces, although it dose have a few unanswered questions wich are answered in the later books (mainly book four). I really enjoyed this series and i couldent wait to get my hands ont the next books!

This book was interesting but the style of the writing didn't appeal to me and for a while it seemed to not even have a plausible plot. who is the man in brown and why is the Gunslinger after him? Isn't this the first of the series we shouldn't have to search for simple answers like these.
