When Kate was 5 years old, her family ran away from the Westbrook mansion where they were living, Mason's Choice. On that night, Ashley, a Westbrook, drowned. Kate's mother was a suspect in the case, so they fled to England.
Now Kate is 17, and her father is dead. He had two wishes for Kate, to contact her mother, who had left them when they arrived in England, and return a ring that he had stolen from Adrian Westbrook. So Kate returns to Wisteria, to meet Mr. Westbrook and return the ring. But she wasn't allowed to meet him because of the housekeeper. So she pretended to be interested in a job as a nanny for Patrick, another Westbrook. Emily, Patrick's mother, hires her immediately, so she becomes part of the household. But Adrian Westbrook's older children or the housekeeper. Kate also meets Sam by accident, and he becomes her friend and helper.
When Patrick constantly mentions Ashley, Kate doesn't know what to do. She runs into Mr. Joseph, Ashley's tutor, and starts a friendship with him. He warns her about the Westbrooks, but she doesn't listen. She wants to find out the truth about Ashley's death and who killed her, and nothing will stop her. Not even someone out to kill her.
I thought that this book was good. Elizabeth Chandler wrote 3 other Dark Secrets books, and this one wasn't as good as some of the others. But this book was significantly longer and definately worth the money. It's great for anyone who loves thrillers with a bit of romance. I'd give this book 4/5 stars.
