Living in a perfect world I feel as if Im the one living by the strict laws and that Im the one who only can see the grays, whites, and blacks or their little world. I cant even imagine a scene without pinks, oranges, greens,or yellows. I love this novel because it is one of those page-turning books that gives you a glimpse into a diferent environment. I reccomend this book to all who love to explore!

Okay, this is one of the best books ever. I love the whole idea of a utopia where everything seems so perfect but it isn't. This book is great and life changing and you should definitely read it.

I haven't finished this book yet, because I'm reading it in school, but it keeps me on the edg eof my seat. Every chapter is filled with suspense. This book is an interesting book and an unusual topic to write on. Louis Lowry has really opened up my mind to different topics and ideas.

I read the book "The Giver". "The Giver" was a very different and interesting book. I liked reading "The Giver", because i like reading interesting books that are different from the rest. "The Giver" involved a lot of shady characters that were mostly just the elders in the book. Overall I would say that I enjoyed this book very much and I can't wait to see what the sequal is like.

The Giver is about a supposed utopia where everything is regulated and controlled by the "government." That means that people are assigned children, people are assigned marriages, and people are assigned jobs. This "utopia" may appear to be perfect, yet it lacks color and other things that the real world has. This story is about the young man who is to become the receiver of memories of the outside world, who realizes what he has to do.

This is a really good book. I have read it a couple of times. It is about a community which is perfect. Their is a boy named Jonah who turned age 12 and starts to train for his job but when he finds out what he was picked to do he has a tough decision to make if he wants to "keep" it or not.

I enjoyed it because it kept me reading wanting to know what Jonah is going to do. Also the setting is so unreal I was interested in someones translation of a perfect community. It is technically science fiction but I enjoyed it and usually don't read science fiction because it is too fake but this book has enough reality. It is the perfect combination.

Jonas lives in a community that is "perfect." Everthing in his community goes "right" and is under control. Several emotions like pain and love are not felt. But when Jonas turns 12 years old, he is assigned to be "Receiver of Memory." He learns what feelings like pain, love, family and also gets the ability to see in color. He sees that his community isn't "perfect." The Giver and Jonas devises a plan for Jonas to escape with Gabriel, a baby boy that Jonas and his family are taking care of. Gabriel was scheduled to be "released" and Jonas wants to save the young boy. But will they make it?

this book is really good. its about this guy named jonas and he lives in a world controlled by people. theres no freedom or color. when he turns 13 he is assained the position as the reciever meaning he is to recieve all the memories of the past from the current giver. that is the most important job in the community.

i love this book becuase it makes me think about stuff and things like that, plus its very interesting and likeable.

i would recommen this book to kids 12+ because it is very hard to understand. i had to read it about 2times before i finally understood everything.(i read it when i was like 10)

In grade school, I was a total bookworm. I first read The Giver in the fifth grade, and it instantly became my favorite because it was so imaginative. I then read it again in eighth grade for a children's book project, and loved it even more because I had a greater perspective. Finally, I read the Giver for the third time this year, my senior year in high school, for part of my philosophy final. This story is so complex, creative, and insightful. Its a metaphor for individuality and the extreme importance of diversity. It takes growing up and turns it into an emotional journey, without which the world would be lifeless. Cheers to Lois Lowry for her exceptional accomplishment that has opened my eyes so many times.
