This is one of my favorite books! It is exciting, and thrillimg. Its so nice to see the heroine think of herself, in this world where thinking for yourself is 'rebellion". Its refreshing. I am a christian, so I KNOW how people react when i tell then my favorite book is about goblins. I think that as long as your feet are firmly in this world, you'll be fine. Goblins are more like people in this book.....I HIGHLY recomend it!

When Makenna's hedgewitch mother is drowned, she floods her village and flees north, to the Goblin Wood. There, she assembles an army of displaced goblins to fight back against the Decree of Bright Magic, which dismissed hedgewitches and goblins as servants of the Dark One.

I first read this book when it was selected as a Nutmeg Book (an honor given to good young adult books in my home state, Connecticut) and since then it has never been far from my mind. The conflicts the characters, particularly Tobin, face are very moving.

To really love this book, you have to focus on the story and not just the ending, which is disappointing.

Witches are now persecuted, murdered by those whom they helped. Her mother dead, a girl escapes, and becomes friends with the others who are persecuted - the goblins. Wanting revenge and freedom, she ends up fighting a war. And at some point, she has to face questions of what is more important, what is friendship, and how to stay true to her cause with honor, not for hate and revenge.

This book is really excellent! This book shows us revolutionary. The goblins fight back against the humans, with the help of a young hedgewitch. They do not give up and they end up finding another way out. In this book it shows how they intelligently planned out ways to defeat the humans.

When her mother is killed for being a sorceress, Makenna escapes into the forest. She meets a goblin and having done him a favor, he must repay her because it is in the goblin's code. Pretty soon, she meets other goblins and gives favors to receive help. They plan to fight against the humans who try to extinguish them. Using her witchcraft, she helps them fight back. Five years later, a young knight appears with the challenge of killing the infamous sorceress who has formed an alliance with the goblins of the wood. She evades him and when they form a friendship, his feelings for goblins change. He joins them in the fight.

I liked this book because I never read about goblins and this is a good book to read about them. I liked how Makenna stood her ground and formed an army who loved her, and of course I loved the knight.

Makenna a hedgewitch can do some magic but some people think that hedgewitches are evil so they kill her mother. Makenna dicides to join the goblins in their forest to help them defend themselves from humans. They find a young man called Tobin that was sent to catch Makenna and imprison him. Read this book to find out what happens.

I loved this book. People who like fantasy and magic will like this book.
