ACROSS THE DOODLEVERSE is a clever and engaging middle grade graphic novel in THE LAST COMICS ON EARTH series. In this installment, someone is stealing children's doodles and turning them into an army. Doodlehead has also stolen Boy Lightning's arm and lightning bat and replaced them with a sketch arm. The superheroes must figure out a way to stop Doodlehead, get Boy Lightning's arm back, and save the Doodleverse!

What I loved: This is a humorous and action-packed graphic novel that is sure to delight superhero-lovers. The story is quite clever and consuming with very light elements of danger and plenty of creativity. The book unfolds smoothly with just the right amount of information at the right time and wraps up nicely at the end.

The book has a lot of humor and comedy that middle grade readers will love. There is some potty-related humor but also plenty of other funny things that they can really enjoy. This also keeps the story from getting too tense or serious and is perfect for this age range.

The images are colorful and vivid with lots of personality. There is a change in color scheme to indicate the different realms that works well as visual cues without too much explanation. The speech bubbles are easily attributable, and there is never an overload of text - the illustrations tell the story as much as the text does, working together nicely.

Final verdict: ACROSS THE DOODLEVERSE is an engaging and fun middle grade graphic novel with the right touch of action and comedy. Recommend for readers who enjoy superheroes and laughs!
