The Lighthouse Keeper feels like a modern folklore story. The illustrations are whimsical and, at times, a bit eerie. The accompanying text gives the virtues of the lighthouse keeper in rescuing people and the special relationship to the moon. It is listed as a Middle-Grade audience, but aside from one creepy illustration that depicts souls and ships lost in a whirlpool, nothing else seems to warrant the need for an older audience. Overall, the illustrations and wording feel like mythology and come together to create a quirky story.
