He could be any man, any respectable, ordinary man.

But he's not.

This man watches the five Herbert girls—Beauty, Mim, Stevie, Fancy, and Autumn—with disturbing fascination.

Unaware of his scrutiny and his increasingly agitated and forbidden thoughts about them, the sisters go on with their ordinary everyday lives—planning, arguing, laughing, and crying—as if nothing bad could ever breach the safety of their family.

In alternating points of view, Norma Fox Mazer manages to interweave the lives of predator and prey in this unforgettable psychological thriller.

Although I found myself comparing this book to Living Dead Girl, it was very good and a worthwhile read. I'd recommend this to many people in high school. The man isn't a stranger in this book, you see his point of view which I liked and thought was a creative touch. You felt bad for him and at the same time you hated him. My favorite part was during the action you didn't find out his name. I also liked the girls and their alternate personalities. The things one of these girls go through is rough but by the end of the novel she is on her way to recovery. Enjoy! Although this isn't exactly a happy read...

This book alternates from the five Herbert girls perspectives, and the one man who's obsessed with them. True to the title, one of the sisters goes missing and you'll just have to read the book to find out what happens next.

I thought that this book was just plain amazing. It was touching, horrifying, and a lot better than what I expected. This psychological thriller is strangely addicting, and a real pageturner. I thought the different perspectives made the book better, and I strongly recommend this book.

This book is told in alternating viewpoints of 5 sisters and one very creepy unnamed man. The man is watching the sisters and we hear his thoughts about each of them. The 5 sisters; Beauty, Mim, Stevie, Fancy and Autumn are completely unaware of the man watching them.

The author pulls you right into the girls lives and they each become real to you. Thats why the mans stalking of them is increasing disturbing, because we care about these girls. I really wanted to shout at them to Be Careful! several times.

A good quick thriller with no blood nor gore.
