After reading all the wonderful reviews about this book, I really felt as if they were exaggerating or somethin. I have to admit, I'm not too fond of this novel.
What I did enjoy about this book is the fantasy element. I haven't enjoyed a good fantasy book in a while so it was really refreshing. I enjoyed reading about the animal magic and the power that it had. Imagine being able to communicate with all types of animals. How cool would that be? Way cool.
However, I didn't enjoy the beginning of the novel as much. It seemed to me that the first fifty to a hundred pages could have been eliminated. I really feel that the prologue that was in the beginning of the novel was enough to set up the book so I didn't see the whole point in talking about George's childhood life.
The characters were kind of ...distant. I didn't feel any real emotions and personalities from George, Beatrice and Marit. George is always like: I don't know what it's called - the thing I feel for Beatrice/Marit. And I'm like...okay...o__O
Anyway, the ending was awkward too. It was like I love you. Oh, I do love you too, you know. SO awkward. Like I said, the characters seems to show no real emotion and so I didn't really enjoy it that much.
Overall, Princess and the Hound has a nice cover but I feel like that's all there is to it. I hope Princess and the Bear is better.
