The plot is fast-paced with vivid characters constantly challenging the exertion of power and violence. It is an accessible, complicated, but uplifting story.

Beyond a great adventure tale, Lassiter Williams tackles what it means to be powerful and female. She identifies how trauma, the price of violence, can be destructive for generations, and she probes for peace in a violent world.

Good Points

The Rage explores the crushing conflicts of different cultures competing for the same space in a primitive forest. The native tribes, the religious Puritanics, and the mystical all-women New Murians each bring distinct strengths to battle for their place. Trib is a young warrior-trained heroine who gradually awakens to the losses caused by violence. Fighting cannot be the only way to resolve differences, but she struggles for an alternative. The plot is fast-paced with vivid characters constantly challenging the exertion of power and violence. It is an accessible, complicated, but uplifting story.
