If I had read this book before I entered high school then I would have begged my mother to home-school me! It reminded me of when I was a kid (before pre-school even) and I watched a movie called "Can't Buy Me Love" and it scared me soooo badly about high school. This book had the same effect! After the movie I thought there was no way I could ever handle high school and this book gives off those same scary vibes.

The characters are all a bit one-dimensional, but that's more because they haven't developed their personalities and not because the writer wasn't trying. These girls are incredibly self-absorbed and aren't exactly looking to change. To them "bettering" themselves means getting facials.

The main thing I loved about this book was just getting another new book from Francine Pascal. She's a visionary who kick-started the young adult genre and we all owe her a hige debt of gratitude.

This is a bad book. Not only is the main person self-centered and clueless, she's annoying and I didn't care what happened to her. She was just this snobby person who looked down on others who weren't like her. She got on my nerves and I really wanted to throw down this book. But I finished it and wasn't happy with it at all. If it looks like the movie Mean Girls then you're right. It's predictable, boring, dumb and pointless.

This book was very realistic in portraying the popular cliques in a modern-day high school. This book is about a Dallas, Texas High School where the most rich, beautiful, and meanest girls rule. They taunt everyone else and are so harsh to those who are poorer, uglier, and just different in any way. You won't believe the lengths these girls will go to boss others around - it gets pretty crazy. Some things go a little too far, but it can happen.

It's very emotional in how it shows how those being taunted feel hurt and want revenge. This book is very powerful and shows both sides of the story: the ruthless side and the side that wants things to change for the better.
Francine Pascal is an amazing writer and I recommend this book to any girl who is in high school. Some things may sound familiar and it teaches those to take a stand if they are the target of a "ruling class." The only thing was that it ended too quickly and you never ultimately find out what happens to the leader of the ruling class. But overall, it kept me hooked.
