When you make a face or cross your eyes, do your parents tease that if you're not careful, your face might stay that way forever? Well, my parents said that if I'm not careful, I'll turn into one of my gadgets. I thought they were joking, people But-somehow, someway-I have become a living, breathing, walking piece of technology. Apparently my head now has a built-in GPS and my palm is equipped with talking and texting capabilities-just like my cell phone Now I'm a techno-superhero with powers that seem to have a mind of their own. And, in my case, keeping a secret identity is harder than it sounds. I short-circuit every time Trevor Hamilton looks my way. Like being a girl isn't stressful enough.

Thirteen-year-old Samantha Granger gets the best new gadgets. You ever hear the saying be careful if you talk too much on your cellphone that it might get glued to your ear? Imagine if something like that actually could happen. Well, in Samantha's case the cell fuses with her body and she's now a walking/talking GPS and info bank. The kids at her middle school think she's either strange or amazing. To make matters worse somehow her cell goes off at just the most awkward moments, such as when the cute guy Trevor gets close to her. Samantha is sent to places where people try to call 911. She thinks she can help them. At first she does then when things get way out of hand, she has to decide who to trust with her secret.

This is a cute, fun tale. Samantha is very likeable in how she copes with her parent's separation and the little fact that she has a cellphone fused to her body. I did think her friend Mel believed her predictament too fast though Mel does show her support for Samantha in some very awkward situations.

This is a very fast-paced tale sure to appeal to tweens out there. There's a little mystery, romance, and even suspense. The cliffhanger ending begs for a sequel.

A fun different choice to those who need a break from all the dark fantasies out there right now.
