The Stranger, by Albert Camus, is a classic novel translated from French (L'Etranger). Worth reading in an English or Philosophy course in high school, The Stranger presents a glimpse of the life of Meursault, a man with very little attachment to material or emotional existence. Meursault seems to live through his senses and raw animal feelings. A great introduction to the concept of existentialism and a short, easy read.
