The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening is the first book of the vampire diaries series. It tells the story of a highschool girl named Elena who soon falls in love with a new mysterious boy in school named Stephan. In turn Stephan also falls in love with Elena. There is something Different about Stephan and the moment he shows up in Fells weird supernatural things start happening. What she soon finds out is that Stephan is  Vampire who has a evil brother named Damon who will do anything to cause Stephan pain and make Elena his!

This was a great Awakening to the Vampire Diaries series.Although the writing wasnt the best. There were times when I felt is was to easy and repetetive, in places that she could have put other words she would use the same one over and over again. Over all the plot of the book was excellent. It also ended on a nice cliff hanger! I cant wait to go out and read the next one to find out what happens next!

Elena Gilbert is your average high school student in Fell's Church, Virginia.  During her senior year, her mild but steady plans are torn assunder when she meets the mysterious newcomer.  His name is Stefan Salvatore and boy does he have a story to tell.  Beyond his old world roots, there is something different about him that she can't quite put her finger on.  Eventually through her own stubborn determination...all is revealed.  Stefan is a vampire!  Around this same time, attacks are occuring throughout their small town which leaves Elena in a bit of a bind....is Stefan behind them?  Can the one she is falling in love with truly be the monster at the heart of this "crime" wave?

Recently turned into a TV series (2009), new light is being shed on this old classic (not that old, but old considering it wasn't published in the same year).  Join the throng of fans in waiting by discovering the novels that inspired the series....as well as an author with talent to boot!  Happy reading!
