After her mother died in a car accident, Mandy went to live with hr great aunt and two great uncles.

The accident left her blind, making it hard to get around in a new lifestyle.

To Mandy's surprise, she isn't completely blind. It seems when she leans out the window of her attic room, she leaves the present, and is transported to 1950, during the Korean War. What she "sees" is like watching a TV show. Mandy soon realizes that when she drifts into the past, she is observing the life of Gwen, her grandmother, and Uncle Abe, when they were kids. What she learns surprises but also teaches her about her past and why her mother was abandoned. When she attempts to talk to Uncle Abe about Gwen, he becomes angry and storms off. Why?
