Joan Aiken creates a classic children's book in her first installment of her wolves trilogy.  The Wolves of Willoughby Chase expertly intertwines enough intrigue and excitement with the backdrop of a wolf-ridden, eighteenth-century, England.  I eagerly followed Bonnie through the trials she faced when she was left in the care of Mrs. Slighcarp while her parents are away. In parts Cinderella, A Little Princess, and Nancy Drew, Aiken creates an unforgettable plot, relatable characters, and an ultimately enjoyable read.

Probably the most riveting, well written children's book I've read to my kids. The vocabulary and old-English terms are very educational! Even Mom needed to look them up! But the story was the best part.

I first read this book when I was about ten, and I absolutely loved it then. I'd recommend it to anyone aged 10+, because it's a really good old fashioned adventure story.
It's got a bit of a riches to rags plot, and it's about two girls and a boy coming up against an evil governess in the 1800's and winning. The characters in it are very good, and it's easy to read. I hope many people read this book.

This book is thefirst in a series of books about Dido Twite and her family in Victorian England, this Dickensian adventure, set in a time when England was full of wolves, tells of how two cousins escape their evil governess and travel the 400 miles to London with their friend Simon and his geese
