Reminded me of the first books that she wrote. A completely compelling story that I couldn't put down. I loved the characters and the pacing. I completely fell into the story and let her descriptions just surround me. I didn't want to put the book down once I picked it up.

After a tragic, foggy night car accident, Cooper, a high school jock, wakes up in the hospital with a visitor beside him, a girl...that only he can see, named Samantha.  Throughout his recovery she is there and niether can  explain why she is there or the dark shadows that are always lurking in the background. Out of the hospital, but still recovering, Cooper and Samantha are seeking answers and get help from  some rather surprising characters.  Enter Brent , an one time aquaintance and Delilah, the captain of the cheer leading squad.  Brent and Delilah  are not as innocent as they seem and posses special powers of their own.They help Cooper in seeking the truth about his "ghost" Samantha under the guidance of a  "sorcerer" mentor.They soon  discover the truth of the  dark shadows and Samantha existence, but not before endangering all of their lives.

Normally, when I read a book, I feel that it is too long and usually blame it on bad editing, however,  I felt this book was left short. It is not a very big book and I got a little wary when halfway through the book  there wasn't many pages left  in which to end the story. Though the story was original and entertaining,  I felt as if the author was inconsistent in pacing of events.  The ending was a surprise but the character introductions were hurried and I would have like to see more development. The "mentor" character was very interesting but one dimensional.
 I wanted to have my daughter read this  (13yrs old) but a casual reference to the Church of Satan made me uncomfortable and I would have to recommend to 14 and above.
