Our zany hero, Two-Headed Chicken, has traveled the multiverse using the AstroCap and romped through the chronoverse using the TimeCap. Now they dare to ask: What happens if they use both caps at the same time? Answer: Chaos! Unfortunately, the chaos is so ridiculous that the reader slams their book closed, trapping the double-noggined main character in eternal darkness. But wait! Two-Headed Chicken escapes into the Cosmic Library, which contains every book ever written. Now, still pursued by the chicken-hungry moose Kernel Antlers, Two-Headed Chicken hops their way through a parade of familiar titles, from a hundred-acre wood to a kissy vampire novel, interacting with the befuddled characters and leaving mayhem in their wake. With interactive puzzles and activities and wall-to-wall jokes, Tom Angleberger delivers another absurdist delight in this madcap series.

CHAOS IN THE COSMIC LIBRARY is a humorous sci-fi graphic novel in the TWO-HEADED CHICKEN series. Two-headed chicken has used the AstroCap and TimeCap to travel through multiverses and time, respectively, but now, they are using them at the same time. This is a dangerous and ridiculous idea that results in much hilarity, especially when it goes into the Cosmic Library with every book ever written.
What I loved: This is an engaging and humorous graphic novel that is sure to delight middle grade readers. The story takes a lot of silly turns, while using imaginative ideas around the multiverse and time. The sci-fi elements added to the overall story, which felt like an imagination experiment at times. Young readers will enjoy considering the possibilities and thinking of what they'd like their own journeys to look like.
The images matched the mood with plenty of hilarity and creativity throughout. There was a great use of color and plenty of guiding dialogue to keep the reader easily following along. The story really pulls the reader in, and there are things for them to do along the way, becoming part of what they are reading. This works really well for young readers who enjoy being a part of the comedy.
Final verdict: CHAOS IN THE COSMIC LIBRARY is a delightful and humorous graphic novel that is sure to enchant middle graders who enjoy sci-fi and comedy. Recommend for fans of the series and anyone looking for an engaging new read!
