Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover is one of those books that pulls you in fast and keeps you hooked emotionally. It follows Tate, a nursing student, and Miles, a pilot with a guarded past. They start a no-strings-attached relationship, but it’s clear pretty quickly that feelings aren’t going to stay out of it. What really stood out to me was how the story switches between Tate’s present and Miles’s past, slowly revealing why he is the way he is. The writing is simple and easy to follow, but it still hits hard, especially as more of Miles’s story comes out.

Personally, I had mixed feelings about the romance. I felt bad for Tate a lot of the time because she was giving more than she was getting, and it was frustrating to watch her accept that. At the same time, Miles’s backstory made me understand him, even if I didn’t always agree with his actions. The emotional parts of this book are really strong, and some scenes genuinely hit deep. Overall, I think it’s a powerful story about pain, healing, and how love can be complicated, but not always healthy.
