Take a handful 1980s John Hughes teen flicks throw in some snarky British humor and a load of zombies and you have the "funtastic" thrill ride of Undead.
I love Kirsty McKay's writing style. The story is fast paced and easy to read. Bobby, our narrator, is a smart and courageous teenage girl who doesn't loose her sense of humor in the face of danger. The characters fit many of the stereotypical teen movies- but that makes them all the more familiar and easy to understand. Although the plot line can get slightly predictable, as even some movies can be, there are a few twists that keep the story moving. The predictability actually adds to the story, allowing the reader to completely enjoy the humor and have fun reading.
After a few chapter I literally could not put it down. I will definitely recommend Undead to others even a few of my younger ones if they're looking for a Zombie book that will make them smirk instead of running under the covers. A fun read! Looking forward to the sequel Unfed.
