Once again, in Vampirates: Blood Captain, twins Conner and Grace return on the high seas. After leaving the Pirate Acadamy in anger, Conner is rejoined with his shipmates on the Diablo. Grace had successfully completely transported herself back to the Nocturne with the goal to help Lorcan heal. The ship is headed to a mysterious place where a friend of the Captain's will help him.

Captain Molucco Wrathe's brother ends up in the mix in Conner's life, including his captain's nephew, Moonshine. Moonshine is immediatly a pain in the neck, and he chooses to torment Conner whenever he can. On top of all that, Conner and his friend Bart run into a thought-to-be-dead friend of their's, who's a vampire now. Conner and Bart bring him to the Vampirate ship while Grace is away with Lorcan, in hopes that their friend would get better. He's also having second thoughts about being a pirate, especially when it causes him to kill a man.

Grace doesn't face any immediate danger, but things are getting strange. As she tries to urge Lorcan to get better, starting with actually taking blood, she pulls herself into more problems concerning her and Lorcan's relationship. And on top of that, there's a mist of rebellion among the new vampires...

The third installment in the Vampirates series continues the original plot of the ship of vampires and pirates on the trecherous seas. I'd suggest it to anyone who enjoyed the first books of the series, vampire lovers, and pirate lovers.
