The story follows Rose Hathaway a dhampyr and guardian in training. She is reckless and fiercely loyal to her best friend Lissa. The moroi and strigoi balance is also something unique, add magic to the living vampires and you have a recipe for great politics and world building.

This is a character driven story which will take you on an emotional roller coaster. It is also a series that is easy to binge. I didn't want to go to bed at night because I just wanted to read one more chapter. If you enjoy a high stakes story with vampires, this is the story for you.

Good Points

Vampire Academy opens up a secret world of vampires and dhampyrs. What I love the most about this book is Rose's tenacity and Lissa's uniqueness. Their relationship is genuine and unconditional.

The writing style is right up my alley. I love first person because I want to be in the FMC's head and in this book, I am immersed.
