Rose is a member of a half-human, half-vampire guardian class dedicated to the protection of the elite vampire-pure bloods called dhampirs. Her job, or future job, is to protect Lissa, a Moroi or full vampire, who just happens to be her best friend. Rose supports Lissa emotionally, guards her physically, and when Lissa makes bad decisions that could get her into trouble with the school authorities, Rose steps in and takes the blame then, too.

Lissa deserves and reciprocates Rose's devotion. She's an incredibly loyal friend, and repays Rose with the trust and esteem she deserves. She's also gifted, or cursed, with the ability to heal as well as unusual powers of mind control. But her gifts are both forbidden and costly.

This book is intriguing because is has a mix of action, romance, mystery and humor. The friendship between Rose and Lissa makes this book gives readers something to relate to and eds up hooking the readers' attention.Rose's snarky, outgoing, and sarcastic personality adds humor whereas Lissa's shy, compassionate and troubled life adds sympathy and emotional attributes. The next book in the series is Frostbite.

This book was so amazing.
My friend recommended it for me because I was into the Twilight series.

I love the forbidden romance in it.
Between a teacher and a student.
It doesn't get much better then that.
Also, it's not just a romance, there is tons of action also.
It has you on your toes the whole time trying to predict what will happen but you never seem to be able to.
