Young Adult Fiction 234
Meh
(Updated: June 04, 2026)
Yet another disappointing dystopia. This one begins with the premise that the women have mostly died out, rather like the reverse of Y: The Last Man but skewed to a younger audience. Unfortunately, the story has been badly executed, with poorly drawn characters, back story and environments. As an example of the poor choices the author made, she claims that the women died from the bird flu. Why choose a real disease and not make up something that affects women only? It just seemed odd. The kids are around 12 years old, so that precludes any real romance, as well. The ending is very open and pretty damn uninspired.
