Mercy Gray was called a hero for her part in saving lives at a mall shooting. Unfortunately, she carries remnants of that day, which include massive medical debt. But mostly she carries the guilt for not listening to her sister's warning that the killer wasn't the sweet boy everyone, including her, thought he was. Then she has an opportunity to be part of a reality show. The best part is that the winning prize money is not only enough to pay off her debt but also to pay for her younger sister's college education. Only something is terribly off when Mercy shows up on set. When a tragic accident occurs, Mercy feels something sinister. Now she and the others must work together to survive.

What worked: In this twisty thriller, not all is as it appears. Each contestant has survived traumatic events in their lives. Right at the start, Mercy senses something isn't quite right. She begins to second-guess herself. She was wrong about Ryan, the boy behind the mall shooting, and she no longer trusts herself.

When one contestant is found dead, Mercy starts to question why she's on the Reality Show set. The remaining contestants have their own baggage, and Mercy is unsure whether to form alliances or not. There's a sense of urgency with Mercy and the others trying to figure out how to get out.

All of the characters are flawed, but the question is, who do you trust? Good pacing and surprises at every corner.

A few revelations surprised me. So-called allies were anything but. And the so-called villains? Yes, not all is what it seems. There's mystery, betrayal, and a wicked truth that no one sees coming.
