To start, What I Was isn't for everyone.
The story line is entertaining and easy to follow, the entire book is well written, but a major downside is that the vocabulary used is rather extensive, so readers either won't understand a lot of the words, be constantly pulling out a dictionary or be on the right side of intelligent.
Personally, I wrote down the words I didn't know and looked them up later, but when I'm reading a book I find it hard to keep stopping and starting - though I do like to expand my vocabluary, hence the noting of words.
If you enjoy an easy read, don't bother, other wise, What I Was is a fascinating novel with a surprising twist at the end that is well worth reading up to.
