Time seemed to collapse... There was a sharp stabbing sensation in my stomach... Steve crowed, "Now I have you! Now you're gonna die!"

Dead if he loses - damned if he wins. The time has finally come for Darren to face his archenemy, Steve Leopard. One of them will die. The other will become the Lord of the Shadows - and destroy the world.

Is the future written, or can Darren trick destiny?

After eleven books, you can really get attached to characters. In the final book of Darren's adventure, I felt like I could do nothing but stand back and watch as he discovered the truth about the little people and realized his purpose as a half-vampire, and if he was meant to be a full-blood anytime soon. The conclusion will send your head spinning and you will see all twelve books come full circle. When I finished reading, it felt like part of me was missing, only to be found in the pages of Darren Shan's Cirque de Freak series. I not only recommend this book, but the entire series, and I know I will continue to read this series over and over again until I know them from heart.

It's time for the showdown. Darren vrs. Steve. The future of human civilization resting on our young hero, Darren Shan. But Darren is about to discover that the solution that he thought was obvious may not be the right one and there are some secrets that are about to be revealed.

This book was definitely my favourite of the series. Darren Shan took what I thought would happen in the book and twisted it around, creating a completely superior ending that ties up all loose ends and leaves hope for the future. Also, I love the title.

In this final novel of Darren Shan's epic series, Darren finishes his final encounter with the Vampanzee Lord, but be prepared to be thrown around in a stunning deviation from Shan's usually predictable plot-lines; with a surprising twist or two lying in wake! Pay attention to all the little details, as they all lead up to a stunning ending to this fantastic series! Don't miss out on this twelfth and final novel in the Cirque du Freak series, Sons of Destiny!
