A particular favorite in our house was the how-to-draw pages, where they get you started and then give detailed instructions for how to draw the mythical creatures. They are actually really well designed in that children can follow along and create a seriously cool illustration. The activities are definitely designed for older picture book readers, with connect-the-dots stretching into the 100s in places (a great numbering task!), complex mazes, and suggested crafts you can make that have a bit of complexity. However, even younger picture book readers will get into it all, and the coloring pages plus activity rhymes are definitely in their wheelhouse.
A cool feature is that the activities are grouped together, so if a reader gets into a particular task such as hidden object search-and-finds, they can find more by simply turning to the next page – no hunting for others throughout the book. The edges are also color-coded with a label of each section that makes it easy to close and get back to. This is made to be a book that readers can hop around through as desired, as well as pick up and put down as needed.
